Virgin Active – Guinness World Record

Virgin Active – Guinness World Record was broken on Monday December 5, 2011. At exactly 6pm GMT, and globally across 255 Virgin Active gyms, packed spin classes (v-cycle) started to turn those pedals non-stop for 15 minutes to raise money for Sparks children’s charity.

Raising money for Sparks, the charity that funds pioneering medical research into heart defects in babies was an honour for me. I was proud to be a part of it. Well done to all those who took part.

Burn Calories like crazy in a Boot Camp Workout

Boot camp workouts are efficient because you work your entire body– heart and muscles, by going from one exercise to another with no rest. The workouts involve calisthenics like pushups, jumping jacks, crunches and other body weight exercises…the difference lies in the intensity. In boot camp, your challenge is to take your body to its limit. You work, you sweat and, best of all, you burn calories like crazy.

CARB Curfew & NCT= No Chocolate Tuesday

Bonus tip, try not to eat any carbohydrates after 6pm (CARB CURFEW) for a week. That means no rice, pasta, bread or potatoes replace them with plenty of vegetables. Try this for a week and you’ll notice the difference and if possible stick  to it.
NCT= no chocolate Tuesdays. If you’re partial to be a bit of chocolate everyday, then set yourself one day a week when you don’t eat any at all.  NCT is a good way start, let me know how you get on. pete@petefitness.com

Boot Camp workout craze sweeps Kent!

Have you tried the latest craze. Boot Camp!

Well I know I do run them so you may say I’m biased but I have to say that I have noticed a difference in my personal fitness levels as well as my clothes fitting me better as I have dropped some pounds and become more toned. This is mainly from demonstrating the exercises, running around checking the participants technique and doing all the exercises with them in what I call the main arena. This is where I get everyone together and we do abs, mountain climbers, spider man, press up and shuttle lunges to name but a few. So can you imagine the benefits of doing a Boot Camp twice a week for an hour!
